Termites are commonly called as the ‘silent waster’ because they are widely recognized for causing immense structural damage to properties. They are a group of eusocial insects that live in colonies and they divide their laboring tasks according to their castes; soldiers, workers and royalty. They are also a group of cryptic insects. Termites are usually categorized according to the type of structure they damage such as Dry Wood Termites, Subterranean Termites and Damp Wood Termites.

All Termites eat cellulose. Cellulose can be in various forms as plant fiber. Microbes in the guts of Termites digest the cellulose. Termite workers build nests and provides home for their colony. Nests are usually built underground, underneath or in pieces of timber and in living or fallen trees. Moreover, Termites play a significant role in the nature. They contribute to the ecosystem by breaking down wood or any cellulose material. As a result they are considered pests that harm properties of humans.

There are various methods to control termites. However, there are few basic rules to follow in order to avoid Termite infestations. Eliminate moisture in the environment of the property and remove access to Termite food sources, to avoid Termite infestations.
