Once in a while you come across an extraordinary human being, who takes it upon himself to go above and beyond to protect what others so freely take for granted; Mother Earth. We first met Jayantha of Katana Upcycle a few weeks ago. Under the blazing heat, in a roadside stall, trying to create awareness about his 100% recycled stationary products. What caught our attention the most is the humility he possessed and his utmost dedication to saving our planet by recycling waste products and creating something reusable. The general norm is that, higher the floor - lower the risk of termites reaching the top. The notion of termites living only beneath the floor has been proven wrong, with the increased damage, termites have caused to apartments and other high rise buildings in Sri Lanka.

Pest infestation in Sri Lanka is not considered a serious threat unless Dengue causalities are on a rise or properties have been destroyed due to termite damage. Hence the real problem gets swept under the carpet more often than not and by the time the citizens realise the problem, it is often too late.
